Gymnasium
There is a gymnasium located at the Emmitsburg Community Center that can be available for public use if approved by Frederick County. The gymnasium is owned by Frederick County and thus all applications to use the gym must be approved by the County prior to use. Frederick County also sets the rules and guidelines that must be followed for anyone using the gym. (click here for full gymnasium policy) The County also establishes if there is a fee involved. Applications to use the gym are first submitted to the Town for approval by the Town Manager. After the initial approval, the application is sent to the County for final approval.
Twice a year groups are invited to submit for a block of time in the gym. The two sessions run from April 1st through September 30th and October 1st through March 31st. A gym reservation meeting is held prior to the start of each session. Notification of the start of the process for the new season will be advertised in the Frederick News Post as well as posted on the Town's website and facebook page.
Priority is given in the following manner:
- Programs of Frederick County Government
- Programs for youth 18 years of age and younger
- All others
